SOLITUD | New York is a large-format contemporary wall artwork by Santi Flores exploring city life and the complex relationships between individuals within the crowd.

Its panoramic format gives the composition an architectural quality, while layers of colour, gesture and urban references create depth and visual tension. The work is conceived for spaces where art needs to hold its own against scale — from private collections to contemporary corporate and hospitality interiors.

Part of the SOLITUD series, New York reflects on the paradox of modern urban life: physical proximity and emotional distance.

Detailed description: SOLITUDE | New York is a powerful reflection on collective life within urban structures.

Composed of overlapping elements and architectural structures, the work depicts numerous simplified human figures interacting within geometric constructions that evoke buildings, grids, and metropolitan environments. The composition unfolds across two horizontal registers, contrasting the chromatic intensity of the upper section with the darker tonal depth of the lower section, suggesting dual perspectives on urban life.

The upper section radiates warmth and activity through red tonal atmospheres, while the lower section introduces shadow, tension, and complexity. Together, they form a visual metaphor for contemporary existence: proximity without intimacy, density without connection.

Crafted from steel and enamel and set slightly off the wall, the piece casts subtle shadows that extend the narrative into the physical space. The projected silhouettes reinforce the tension between presence and isolation, a recurring theme in Santi Flores's SOLITUDE series.

Solitude – New York 2 does not portray solitude as emptiness. Rather, it presents solitude as a condition that arises within the crowd: a silent awareness within collective structures.
